Hollyhocks on the Prairie
This is one of my favorite Iowa pictures. These hollyhocks were growing along a fence and in the background you can see the prairie meadows and corn fields scrolling towards the horizon. I could so live there.

Iowa native here. I love the picture. I miss living out in the country on a gravel road, with lots of privacy and the only noise is from nature.
It is gorgeous in the Summer, but I don't know if I could live in a place that snows in the Winter.
After a crazeee morning, your
hollyhocks soothed my mind.
Thanks.
Cathi
Lovely picture.
I would SO like to be riding a horse along that fence line there and then heading back to the house for a glass of "sweet tea."
Gorgeous. My Texas grass is sere, crunching as I walk. When my dog scratches his signature it's like the Dust Bowl.
Flower season is long gone here, so this was a breath of fresh air, a gasp of possibility.
My hollyhocks are blooming, too, but I only have dark burgundy. Those are so light and pretty! I need more. Don't suppose you'd go back and get some seeds for me.....nah, didn't think so. Shucks.
Hollyhocks are drought-resistant flowers and they grow all over Jordan. Some are seven feet tall. I love these flowers.
So beautiful!
Funny you posted that pic just when I needed to find out what the heck was growing in my garden.
I bought one of those green, roll out type gardens. You know, the ones where lazy people like myself just want to roll out a seeded roll, water, and wa la, instant garden.
Anyway, I ended up with a bunch of hollyhocks and had NO clue what they were until today.
So thank you.
